How Much Do Baby Books Cost?

$ Low: Becoming A Dad 6-15 $ $ Low to Middle: Pregnancy 10-25 $ $ $ Middle to High: Baby's Firs Year 10-35

Whether you’re thinking about having your first child or, you already have one on the way, you might start to feel overwhelmed with everything that’s happening with your life as a new parent, no matter how old you are.

Friends, family members, and even strangers will approach you with all sorts of tips, advice, and recommendations for you and your new baby before he or she is even born!

Although advice is always appreciated, especially when it comes from your loved ones, in the last couple of decades there has been a surge in parenting and baby books that are meant to explain every little detail of the process you and your family will be going through during this new stage in your life.

What Kind Of Book Do I Need?

There are many options to choose from, so in the end, it’ll depend on what kind of reader you are, if you prefer a scientific, biographical, or humorous approach, what subjects interest you the most, and of course, how much money are you willing to invest in this kind of books.

Another aspect we should mention here, it’s the format of the book you choose.

The most common book formats are Hardcover and Paperback; the first one usually tends to be around $5 more expensive than Paperback books, so it’s something you should consider.

Nowadays, while we’re still living with the COVID-19 pandemic, more books are becoming available in digital or e-book format, which generally lowers the price of the book by at least $3-$5.

However, you must already have -or buy- a device where you feel comfortable enough to read for long periods, whether it’s a smartphone, tablet, laptop, or specially designed devices to read and keep as many books as you want, so it depends on what you feel most comfortable with.

Here are some of the most popular categories you’ll find when looking for books about parenting and babies, and their price range.

Books Focused On Becoming a Dad

This is a particular category that’s centered on men who are going to become dads for the first time; but even though the subject is not very common among parenting books (not as common as pregnancy books, for example) the prices are not as high as you would expect ($6 to $15), so you can find some pretty good deals if you want to make a present for a friend, someone in your family (like your partner), or if it’s for yourself.

Books Focused On Pregnancy

As the title says, these books will teach you everything you need to know about fertility, getting pregnant, and what you or your loved one will be facing in the next few months.

It’s not only about the way the body changes, but also about the psychological and emotional process that comes with it.

Here, you’ll also be able to find books about healthy eating, nutrition, and exercises you can do during pregnancy, that will help you and your new baby.

These books will cost between $10 to $25.

Books Focused On The Baby’s First Year

The last category we can find is the ones that talk about what happens in the first year (or first two years) of the baby’s life, for the baby and parents, as well.

These books can also bring out more specific subjects like postpartum depression, new family dynamics between parents, and style or methods of raising kids.

In this category, you might also see books that have a journal for parents to keep a record of every major event in the life of their baby, but these tend to cost a bit more than regular books.

These can cost from $10 to $35.
