How Much Does a Dog Run Cost?

$ $ Portable Dog Runs: $100 - $800 $ $ $ Fixed Dog Runs: $250 - $2K

Dogs love being outdoors, running, playing, spending time with their humans, or in the company of other dogs.

It’s not just that they love it, they need it.

Healthy dogs need to go out for walks and play several times a day to exercise and socialize.

But not all owners can spend their entire day with their dog to give him or her the proper exercise and playtime it needs, even if most of them would love to have the chance of doing it.

This is when dog runs can be useful.

What Is A Dog Run?

A dog run is an enclosed area where dogs can run, play and be free without having to use a leash or anything else to protect them.

They’re made of metal fences that provide a barrier, so they don’t escape and are protected at the same time.

Dog runs usually don’t have a roof, but some people put a doghouse inside the dog run or a small roof in a part of the dog run to provide shade.

Public parks have this type of enclosed area so dogs can exercise and be with other dogs without a leash.

In these public dog runs, they generally use wood fences to enclose the space, not metal.

In private dog runs, you can get as creative as you want with the design and materials used.

Should I Buy A Dog Run?

This depends mostly on the breed of your dog and the size of your yard.

Your dog’s breed will help to determine how active your dog is.

Is it not enough for your dog when you take him or her out for walks?

Does he or she still have high amounts of energy?

Dog breeds like the Doberman Pinscher, the Chinook, the Siberian Husky, the Boxer, and the Great Dane, are what’s called working breeds.

This means that they have been bred to spend most of their time outdoors working in different ways: herding and protecting livestock, hauling heavy loads, going after prey, protecting humans from other animals and some of them were even used in battle.

It makes sense that these breeds have high energy levels and need constant exercise.

The size of your yard is also important because you’ll need enough space to put the dog run there.

You can use natural or fake grass, but make sure your dog has enough room to exercise freely.

You can also choose to use a dog run for smaller dogs or dogs that don’t have those high energy levels, and the necessary area wouldn’t have to be as big.

Which Dog Run Should I Buy?

There are two main types of dog runs: portable dog runs and fixed dog runs.

Portable Dog Runs

These are almost like wire dog kennels but without the roof.

They are easy to assemble, move and are also foldable, so you can use them in different areas of your yard or take them with you when you need them.

These are normally better for smaller dog breeds that don’t need a lot of space and that are not as strong as bigger breeds.

The price will vary according to the size and material used.

You can find them from $100 to $800.

Fixed Dog Runs

These dog runs are fixed to an area and can’t be moved from there.

They have wire fences, natural or artificial grass, mostly.

You can customize it however you want, like putting a doghouse in or roof to cover part of it, as well as putting water or food bowls, accessories, and toys to keep your doing entertained.

The prices here will depend on the size, materials used for the fence, the type of grass, and any other thing you want to add.

It can cost between $250 to $2,000.

If you hire a contractor, the price can go up from $100 to $200 more than if you do it yourself, so it’s something to keep in mind.
